“BIRTHDAY CELEBRATIONS”by Nafhatun Awang
Posted on 25 February 2015
My son turns 3 years end of February 2015.
Well, technically he turns 1 year old on 29th February 2016.
Yes, he’s a leapling.
And I have yet to plan his birthday bash. Actually, I don’t know whether I should because I’m thinking, if I start the tradition of having a birthday bash this year, I would feel obliged to organise a birthday bash for him (and our other kids when we have them) every.single.birthday.
But then whenever I look at my son (who himself loves other people’s birthday celebration), I feel guilty of not organising his own birthday celebration. So I feel the maternal need to organise his first birthday bash.
It’s definitely not going to happen in February though. Planning one takes time, so naturally the first birthday bash will take more than a month! And, besides. He’s a leapling! *smirks*
Anyway, I’ve decided to throw his 1st birthday bash sometime in March this year. My cousin makes really beautiful cakes, so I’m going to ask her to make a customised birthday cake for Nooh. Probably a Spiderman birthday cake. Or Boboiboy. Or Batman. Or Superman.
(I might just ask Nooh which superhero character he favours more!)
Now, who goes in the invitation list? How many to invite largely determines the menu and the venue. Perhaps organise a separate one for his daycare centre? He always gets cute birthday goodie bags from his friends. Now it’s Nooh’s turn to give I think I am more excited than him on this!
Oh did I tell you that I love surprises! I love birthday packs! And I love the idea of what should go in Nooh’s birthday goodie bag. Definitely something healthy. With an activity pack. And a small book. And something else. Crayons perhaps? Play-Doh? Small toys? Toothbrush pack? Anything but those noisy whistles
Anyway, we’ll see what finally goes in the bag. I can’t wait to go ‘birthday goodie bag’ shopping!!
