(Both) Kids are off to Kindy!

by MayTM
Posted on 22 July 2015

After 1 1/2 years of accompanying my second child to play school, she’s finally embarking on the next milestone, attending kindy on her own. We started her after she turned three which was in the middle of the year.  It is more of getting her used to a kindy/schooling environment.

She was excited initially (we did some prep talk weeks before), thinking that she will be going into the same class as her older brother. But I told her that she will be in a different class; for the 3-year-olds….she started sobbing and said that she does not want to go to school (kindy)!  Feeling stressed,  I can foresee her first few days of kindy won’t be as easy as it was for my older child (Ryan had no separation anxiety issues at all - maybe a day or two of sobbing, then he was all okay).

True enough on Day 1, she cried the moment she stepped into the class…. it continued till…..now (this is her 3rd week). But the good news is; on the 1st week itself, the teacher informed us that she just sobbed a little and stopped after we left. So I guess it is just my baby girl being a baby, needing to ‘sob’ a little every morning when I drop her off.

Day 1 - No crying

Day 2 - Now: 2 minutes of sobbing

Looking grumpy on Day 2, waiting for older brother.

It is comforting though to know that every day after kindy, she’s one happy camper! So now mummy doesn’t worry too much anymore!! smile

More “me” time is like a new found ‘freedom’ for 4 hours every morning! LOL!
