Impatiently Waiting For Baby Number 2by MayTM
Posted on 09 April 2012
Wow…this is really exciting. I am actually starting to blog!
As this is my VERY FIRST blog, here is a short introduction. I have an adorable toddler who just turned 2 in January 2012. Yes, the terrible 2 stage was already on display a couple of months before. To make things more difficult, I am carrying my 2nd child and taking care of this active one is really a handful! Thankfully, my mother is around to help care for my mischievous little one.
Currently, I am already at Week 36 of my 2nd pregnancy. I’m getting impatient everyday waiting for ‘the moment’ to come. Even though this will be my 2nd delivery (~28 months apart from the first), I had technically forgotten the whole birthing process! I remember it being a painful process but all the suffering somehow disappeared once my son was placed in my arms. Well, I guess it is simply because there are more challenges ahead i.e. breastfeeding, newborn childcare, etc.
The whole of my first and second trimester have been relatively problem free. I could go for my yoga classes (1st trimester) and I even do easy step classes (2nd trimester) throughout. However, towards the last leg of this pregnancy, my impatience grew mainly due to the increasing pressure and discomfort in my pelvic area. I’m pretty ‘big’ for both my pregnancies; gained 21kg in the first! So for this 2nd pregnancy, I try my best to eat healthily and exercise. Even so, I have gained 17kg thus far! Anyway, to combat these discomforts, I swim at least 4 times a week. It feels so therapeutic in the pool and I just fell in love with swimming all over again! Swimming is the best form of exercise as it is almost impossible to get any injuries from it. The aches and pains are still there once I’m out of the pool but every 30 minutes of swim gives me the satisfaction of a ‘wholesome’ exercise. Secretly, I hope that all these exercising and swimming will help me through a smoother labour and healing in the future!
Guess what’s left for me now is to pack my “labour bag”, spend as much time as I can with my son and continue the waiting game! I hope in my next blog entry, I will be sharing my birth story!
Wish me luck!!
