I am currently expecting in 5th week and I am taking Blackmores Pregnancy Formula, 2 tablets per day. Can I still consume milk powder for pregnant mums?
Will it be overdose? I’m concerned about the over-taking of Folic Acid.
Thanks for your help.

Most of the multivitamins have the recommended dosages that is required in pregnancy. Taking folic acid and multi-vitamin can prevent congenital birth defects. Folic acid for example, reduces the risk of NTD (neural tube defects such as spina bifida). Some studies have shown that high dose folic acid will prevent cleft lip /palate. Folic acid is water soluble and therefore any excess taken would be expelled in the urine.
Do not forget to add on the vitamins that you consume in your daily diet as well. There is the tendency to take too much rather than too little. Fortunately, most of the vitamins and micronutients are not harmful if taken in excess.
