Amber Chia’s Baby Ashton Has Two New Front Teeth

by Amber Chia
Posted on 01 June 2011

Baby Ashton started teething and he now has two small front teeth. It was only yesterday that I saw the teeth. Before that, he had me worried as he was having fever on and off for awhile. I found out later that it was because he was teething. He kept biting his toys and other objects he can grab because his gums were itching. I will be able to teach him to brush his teeth soon!

He has been getting very clingy these days. He sticks close to me and follows me around all the time. Whenever he sees me having nothing to do, he would want me to hug him. He can recognise people now and doesn’t like strangers anymore. When strangers are around, he would watch me closely and cry if I walk away from him. Sometimes, when new friends come to my house, he would stare at them for a long time before kicking up a fuss.

Baby Ashton is also very chatty. He talks a lot but no one understands what he’s trying to say. He will be eight months old soon! My mum told me that babies will only start talking at one year old but some babies may take even longer.

Oh, he is very demanding too! My arms are getting more and more tired because he wants me to carry him all the time but he is growing and getting heavier. He is getting more adorable, and I actually feel happy when he gets demanding and wants me to hug and carry him. My little darling loves being pampered. It is very tiring though - indulging his demands for my exclusive attention. He only started getting very clingy just two to three weeks ago. Before that, he was okay with everyone. He has a walker in the house and he will walk in front of the door and not allow me to go out.

Yes, I do take him along with me to work sometimes. He has also started “working” himself. Baby Ashton is now the ambassador for Philips Avent, Huggies and Cell Safe International. He did his first shoot for Avent and I was such a proud mother as he was so co-operative and professional on set. I really can’t wait to see the advertisements!

I also take him shopping when I have time. Sometimes, he would demand that I take him out. He doesn’t mind waiting for me at common shopping areas but when he gets to go to a play area for babies, he can get very excited! He knows I am shopping for him whenever we go into a baby shop. He gets excited as he loves bright colours. His favourite colours are yellow, red and green.

I try not to travel so much nowadays. I don’t want to miss out on seeing him grow up. He can sit up now but not on his own, and he likes it when we sit next to him. It is such a wonderful experience watching him taking these baby steps. He is learning a lot everyday and it is so much fun playing with him.

My baby boy is so cute and adorable! I really enjoy motherhood and I feel so happy because he loves me and fusses for me.
