Cleansing Fahry’s Prosthesis
by Mommy LynaPosted on 06 July 2011
Fahry has been using a foot prosthesis since he was 9 months old. It’s quite good but one thing I can’t stand is the smell… since he uses it almost all the time except when he goes to the bathroom and to bed. So you can guess how much perspiration there is in the very confined space between his leg and the prosthesis.
So what I do is to keep on cleaning and disinfecting his prosthesis so that the bacteria from his sweat won’t make the smell worse.
For this purpose, I use Dettol Antiseptic and Dettol Wet Wipes as well as Dettol Instant Hand Sanitizer to keep my hands clean.
This is step-by-step how to clean his prosthesis using Dettol:
- Instantly disinfect my hands with Dettol Instant Hand Sanitizer (if not using Dettol Handwash).
- Dilute Dettol Antiseptic Liquid in a basin of water.
- Soak the inner part of the prosthesis in the solution.
- Put it to air dry.
- Wipe the outer part of the prosthesis using Dettol Wet Wipes.
So easy, only 5 steps to a germ-free prosthesis!
No more bad smell. The antiseptic is also good to bathe kids or even adults after a long and active day.
If you still can’t see how it works, I have a video clip here specially for you!
