Pregnancy, round 2
by IntanPosted on 31 August 2010
I just gave birth to my second child recently. I named her Almira which means “princess” in Arabic and husband and I were so excited because our first one, Husayn is a boy - so having a daughter is perfect to complete our little family.
When I was pregnant with Almira, I was so busy with work that sometimes I even forgot that I was pregnant! I was also playing futsal in the early weeks of my pregnancy just because I don’t know I was pregnant but thankfully nothing bad happened.
Yours truly 2 weeks before giving birth
Overall the whole 9 months went well, except for some backaches but I forced husband to massaged me ( which he reluctantly did but how can he resist his pregnant but manipulative wife..haha), and then there’s the occasional food cravings – but luckily nothing that’s hard to find but the timing sometimes was quite bad. Imagine suddenly waking up at 3am in the morning and cravings for naan bread! Yep, I was guilty of waking up my husband in the wee hours of the morning to sent him out to a nearby mamak for that precious naan bread.
I remember when I was pregnant with Husayn 3 years ago, I spent so much time concentrating on my pregnancy – choosing which hospital to give birth, learning more about breastfeeding, shopping for baby stuff and I even fought with husband on finding the perfect name for our baby!
But with Almira it was so different. My workload was absolutely crazy that I usually found myself continuing my work at home and I had to attend a lot of meetings outside the office. I don’t even have time to take any leave even though I remember being dead tired and I didn’t even buy any clothes for Almira because the doctor could not detect the baby’s gender! Thankfully I have an auntie who bought Almira truckloads of clothes or else Almira will end up wearing only her brother’s baby outfits.
As for choosing which hospital to give birth, believe it or not, my husband and I decided after my water broke and I was really about to give birth! I was at 39 weeks and one week away from due date and kept getting confuse with my contraction when suddenly my water broke. Good thing I was at home and husband was with me. It didn’t stop me from being a drama queen though since I kept crying and thank goodness my mother was with me all the way to the hospital. Everything went well and 2 hours laters, I was blessed with a beautiful and healthy baby girl.

Baby Almira fresh from the oven!
Well, I guess the saying that every pregnancy is different is so true, don’t you agree?
