Dr. Hoe Tuck Sang
MBBS (Malaya), AM, M. Med (Paed), MRCP (UK), FRCP (Glasgow)
Dr. Hoe Tuck Sang graduated from University of Malaya and completed his postgraduate in Master of Medicine (Paediatrics) at University Malaya. He was also awarded the MRCP from the Royal College of Physicians, UK.
In 1988, he was sent to the Royal Alexandra Hospital for Children in Sydney where he received his sub-specialty training in Paediatric Haematology and Oncology. Upon his return to Malaysia, he managed the Paediatric Haematology/Oncology services in University Hospital (now University Malaya Medical Centre) and became a lecturer of undergraduate medical students as well as postgraduates in Haematology/Oncology and the Head of the Paediatric Haematology/Oncology unit at University Hospital.
He has published over 90 papers in both local and international publications, co-authored a parent guidebook on childhood cancer and contributed to various books on child health. He has served in the editorial board of the Malaysian Journal of Child Health and was the co-editor for the ASEAN Paediatric Federation Newsletter in 1991-1992.
Dr. Hoe has been the Honorary Secretary for the Malaysian Paediatric Association (MPA) from 1993-1996 and also held positions as Honorary Secretary of the MPA Children’s Cancer Fund, Chairperson of the MPA Sub-committee on Paediatric Postgraduate Education, Secretary General/Treasurer of the ASEAN Paediatric Federation in 1991-1992, Treasurer of the Chapter of Paediatrics of the Academy of Medicine of Malaysia, member of the Continuing Medical Education Board of the Malaysian Medical Association (MMA) as well as AIDS Action Committee and the Plantation Medicine Committe of the MMA.
In the field of Paediatric Haematology/Oncology, Dr. Hoe is a founding member of the Malaysian Children’s Cancer Study Group (MCCSG) and was actively involved in the researches and clinical trials conducted by the MCCSG. He was awarded a scholarship by the Japanese Society for the Promotion of Sciences for an attachment as a Research Fellow in paediatric liver tumours at the University of Tokyo in 1994.
Dr. Hoe is actively involved in volunteer work, as a volunteer doctor among urban squatter children in Kuala Lumpur and also involved with the MMA in its efforts to improve the health status of children in plantations.
Presently Dr. Hoe is a practising Consultant Paediatrician based in the Klang Valley.
