Do you have any advice on how to increase breast milk supply? My baby is now already 1yr 4months old. What sort of food(s) available locally in Malaysia can help boost breast milk supply ? Hope to receive some advice soon.
Thanks,
Felicia

Dear Felicia,
Congratulations on having breastfed your baby for more than a year! After 1 year, baby’s main source of nutrients should come from solid food. Breast milk is as a supplement till about 2 years old. So, it is very normal to notice a decline in supply at this time.
In order for you to maintain/increase your breast milk production, you will still need to continue to stimulate your breast- either by direct latching or by pumping at consistent intervals. You can try taking the herb fenugreek (which can be purchased in many health food stores). You can buy the whole seeds and swallow down 1 teaspoon 3 times a day. Or you can buy the capsules form. Take 2 capsules 3 times a day. In addition to that, foods like barley, oats, soya and red beans have been known to increase supply too.
PS/- Another thing to take note of - if you notice a decline in pumping output, you should get your pump checked.
